World Within was inspired by the symbolic and introspective work of Frida Kahlo—an artist whose paintings often revealed the landscape of her inner life. In a similar spirit, this piece was created as a visual representation of my own internal world at the time.
Every element within the painting holds meaning. The animals, celestial symbols, landscapes, and colors represent different resonances, ideas, and forces that shaped my awareness. Nothing within the composition was placed randomly; each symbol has its place within the greater whole.
At the center stands a nude figure walking forward across a bridge. The nakedness represents honesty, vulnerability, and the willingness to move through one’s own inner landscape without concealment. The outward perspective of the figure was intentional. Rather than looking inward toward the viewer, the figure faces forward into the world.
Through the triangular composition of the scene, the imagery expands outward around the figure, symbolizing an important realization: that life and experience were unfolding for me rather than against me. The surrounding elements are not obstacles but reflections—parts of the environment through which understanding and growth emerge.
World Within reflects the idea that every individual carries an entire universe of meaning, memory, and symbolism within themselves. When we move through our world with awareness, that landscape becomes something we actively participate in rather than something we merely endure.
Available in two print sizes. Each piece is printed on high-quality archival paper for clarity and longevity.
